To Run or Not to Run

Good morning and welcome to those visiting from the Fitness Friday blog hop!

Yesterday as I had mentioned before, I was feeling pretty cruddy....today it is no different.  Last night after I picked up Em I just laid on the couch under 2 blankets on a heating pad.  Poor Em was weirded out and kept trying to take care of me!  Today I was going to call in sick but good ole state testing has me mumbling all the way into work....however I am leaving once the kids are all done!  This leads me to today's question.....

Do I still go to my 5k tomorrow?????

It is a local 5k and Em is signed up for the kids race.  Ugh....I have never not shown up for a race!  What would you do?  Sorry I don't have too much to say....all I can think of right now is my bed!

  1. Ohhhh, Nancy I hate you feel bad. Maybe go home this afternoon as soon as you can. Drink some nyquil and see how you feel in the morning. NyQuil normally always kicks the bug for me. I hope you feel better!! I wish I was closer, I would run with Em :)

  2. Nancy I'm really sorry you're feeling cruddy. Sounds like you need to get some rest as soon as you can and wait til the morning to make a call on the race.

    Hope you feel better soon!!

  3. I'm sorry your feeling so crappy. I say skip the 5k. There will be plenty more. You likely wont feel good about it anyways. Rest up!

    Feel better.

  4. I would say no no no! Take care of yourself, cuddle with your sweet family. This is a good example for your daughter on taking care of yourself and how sometimes we just need to cut out things we love so that we can love ourselves. Balance. There will be many more 5ks. Feel better nancy.

  5. Ugh, I'm in this same boat. Well, not with having a race but with making the decision to go workout or not. I HATE being sick, it's the pits, isn't it.

I personally think a race would not be something that I would want do to sick (though I have done it before). I think if it's not an "a" race then stay home.

  6. Awww....get better and it is okay to skip the 5K if you feel cruddy. But if you want, you could run for me!

    Take care!

  8. Also, I'm so sorry you are sick! Especially since you can't stay home and hide under the blankets!

  9. I love that your daughter was trying to take care of you. Too cute. I say skip it. It would be better to take care of yourself and get back to full strength sooner. Get better!

  11. hope you are feeling better! i would just wait and see how you feel in the morning. Not worth trying to do it if you feel like crap.

  12. Hope you feel better soon. These crazy students can really drive you bonkers with all those germys. I am fighting some off myself. See how you feel in the morning. That's my plan and if I don't have a fever and don't feel too awful I'm gonna run my 5k and fight the bug with good ol' exercise. It usually works for me. Get lots of rest and drink lots of fluids!

  14. I agree. See how you feel this morning and decide. It's a tough call to make only because you don't want to feel worse. Good luck and I hope you slept well and wake up feeling better.

  17. Hope you felt well enough to race on Saturday! I've not shown up for two races... once after just finding out I was pregnant and having a sinus infection, and then the half marathon at 30 weeks after deciding it wasn't a smart idea. It's hard, but there will be other races!
